Simply stunning...

Just a quick post to show you a glitter polish I am loving right now and have been for the last few months.....Revlons "Stunning".It is a clear base with different size Silver Holographic glitter in it.It is as the name suggests STUNNING ! I picked mine up from Poundland which is a great place to pick up brands such as Sinful colors and Sally Hansen too.You can use as little as you like or build up the coats for a more dramatic effect like you will see below.Have a look around and see if you can pick it up.

Take care and keep being stunning ; )

Give me Strength !!!!

In todays post I thought I would review a product I just used for the first time yesterday: Charles Worthington Salon at Home Strength & Repair kit.

I brought this a few weeks ago from Home Bargains for the small sum of £1.99 and believe it to be quite a regular line product as I have seen it there for a number of months but never picked it up before. It contains up to 4 treatments (according to box) for you to use easily at home to strengthen and repair your hair from the everyday damage it receives. You receive a bottle of hair repair oil which is in pump dispenser form,a tube of strength & repair shampoo,a tub of intensive hair repair masque and a box of 4 clear disposable shower caps. The products are all labelled in order of use and how long to leave them on for. These instructions are repeated also on a separate information leaflet in the box.

First comes the Oil :

I have short hair, but it's thick....very thick ! Therefore I kept piling on the oil to make sure it was evenly distributed through my hair.Seeing as the kit contains up to 4 treatments I still hadn't used a quarter of the bottle which you would expect to.This amount was TOO MUCH ! After I had completed the whole process and dried my hair it still felt greasy as anything. No matter how much I dried it, it still looked and felt wet ! So I had to re-shampoo and dry my hair all over again. So this is a WARNING use this oil very sparingly.Once you have applied a LITTLE amount of oil to your hair you then need to put on one of the shower caps and leave it on for 10 minutes. This is where another of my gripes comes in,the shower caps are not very big.If you had longer hair you would never get it all under.I had a struggle with it and still had a few pieces not in it properly but every time I tried to adjust it more would come out.I would suggest if you had longer hair to use a normal shower cap and wash it out after. It also states that the shower cap will "steam up as the oils work" but I didn't notice any evidence of that.

Next Shampoo:

You have to rinse off the oil and then apply the shampoo and wash as usual.Nothing spectacular about this part, just standard.

Last part the Masque:

Distribute the masque through the hair after you have slightly towel dried it so it's not dripping wet.Leave for 5 minutes and wash out and you are done.Dry your hair however you wish and you should be left with nice soft refreshed hair.....and I was! My hair does indeed feel very soft and fresh so overall I am happy with the results.Yes there are a few niggles with the product and instructions that could be tweaked but for the small price I payed I feel satisfied with the product.Obviously I have only just used it so I can't comment on the long time benefits. But I am sure using this sort of thing on our hair can't do any harm so why not give it a try.Or try one of the others in the range, which is one for straightening your hair and another for giving added shine.

Thank you for reading as always, take care Nat xxx

Breaking In....

Breaking in to Breaking Bad and Netflix !

Yes I am finally able to watch this highly acclaimed series.I must say that I had not heard of it until the final season and everyone in the social media world were talking about the finale. It obviously was shown on a channel that we do not have as I am sure I would have stumbled across it at some point. So it left me thinking where could I watch this ? Last week I saw an advert for a free months trial to Netflix. We had previously ignored any pay to view services of this nature and it's suck you in deals but on this occasion I checked all the small print and decided to go ahead with it.You have to give billing information upfront through whichever method you prefer from debit card to Paypal. You are not charged until the first paying month is due and you are given a date to cancel by on each month should you no longer want to watch. The service is £5.99 for online viewing and is available on a number of devises from computer to PS3.You are able to watch unlimited films and TV shows from a vast collection of titles dating from modern to decades before.I must admit it feels good having so much available at the click of a button. But it doesn't help you much in the way of not being a couch potato though lol ! We may keep the service for a few months and see how we go as compared to box sets of the shows or watching films at the cinema you can't go wrong with the price. If we kept it for 2 paying months it would be £11.98 divide that by the 3 months that we would have been watching and you get roughly £4 a month and £1 a week.So we don't have much to lose really.

Onto more about Breaking Bad......I love it so far and am not breaking myself in gently as I watch around 2 episodes a day and am engrossed from beginning until end.Yes it can be predictable and maddening in parts. But it has that certain something. The characters are complex, well acted and the show has a great mix of Dark and humour. With the nature of the show it does contain violence and some gore but not too much in my opinion compared to some shows or films. It's just different ! Let me watch the whole 5 seasons and I will get back to you with my full critic review !

Wishing....

As I write this I am doing one of the things I am most addicted to at the moment.....painting my nails.Yes I have gone back to a love I had many years ago of collecting nail polish.I of course as you do got rid of all of my collection more or less and decided I wasn't bothered anymore. Now a few years on I am bothered again lol !!!! So the collecting has started once more but where does it stop ? I watch many a youtube video on peoples marvellous collections of at least upwards of 300 bottles and oooh and aaahhhh at the prettiness of it all.I started to give them a run for there money by buying every polish recently that I NEED to have.I have filled a drawer with roughly 85 bottles of coloured polish and various top coats, stickers etc...I have also swatched them all and came up with a great way to store my swatches and see all that I have easily.(I have a video on this on my youtube channel if you are interested) I have all the bottles labelled on the tops so I can get to them easily and in colour groupings too.I was all set to move them into a larger drawer in the dresser and to carry on expanding but I thought NO STOP.I have more than I need (Even though I don't want to admit it really) Also for those of you who have watched my organising and living in small spaces videos you will know that we live in a relatively small house so drawer space is at a premium. And another thing that you probably wouldn't think of is that they weigh a bloomin ton too. When I took the drawer full of them out I was surprised just how much.If I was to carry on the way I was going the poor dresser would have collapsed what with our other things in it too! Seriously though there has to come a point to stop and I think I have hit mine.It may be at a low number to some but to me it's just about right as I love my little collection just the way it is.I now get to the point of this post which is wishing. Stopping collecting allows me to start a wish list.....yay ! Now these polishes can be various prices from £1 and upwards as it's not about the price. The idea is that I have to finish a polish, give one away as I will never wear it or one has to have dried up and be thrown away to allow me to have a polish I want from the wish list. This way my polish gets loved and used up more.

The list is as of January 2014 : Barry M-Racing Green
                                                  Models Own-Indian Ocean
                                                  Opi-Holiday Glow
                                                  Essie-Borrowed and Blue
                                                  Sinful Colours-Ruby Ruby

(Some pictured below where I could find stock photos)

There however is a twist to the list ! Some of these polishes that I see in videos or blogs etc.... and find themselves on the list might be difficult to get hold of and could be a challenge to get, especially as I don't pay full price for higher end polishes. So they may forever be a dream............

Red you said.....?

Yes I said Red,the hair colour choice that apparently has had a real upsurge in sales lately.I have been jumping on the band wagon too (I might add I chose it before I heard the popularity statistic) But not just with any old hair dye......with the marvel that is foam dye!

I had never dyed my hair fully until recently except back in the day with colour mousse that hardly did a thing! The first dye I tried was a Schwarzkopf traditional semi-permanent liquid type one,and it was a mess.I had to get my Husband involved which was an horrific experience for him.He wanted no part in the matter really because he didn't want to be responsible if it didn't work out as he knows how precious us women are over our hair ! I have very thick hair so it was a mammoth task in itself,it was dripping all down my neck which resulted in me shouting and making my poor Husband get into more of a flap ! All in all not a very good experience that was and is never to be repeated. I then saw a couple of adverts advertising this mess free, great coverage foam dye so was tempted to go and have a look. When I did though,it all seemed to be a permanent colour which filled me with dread. What if it went wrong,I wouldn't be able to get it out etc.....were thoughts I had,but in the end i thought oh well I can get one close to my natural colour and dye it back.In the end I was browsing in Boots and saw the John Frieda ones were on offer at £6.66 so I thought I would get one of those, the name of the colour now escapes me but I remember it had a combination of Red and medium in it! Everything about it looked very professional and stylish which made me feel better about it,even down to you getting Black disposable gloves you received.I decided to do the colouring that weekend and all in all it was a pretty straight forward task.My Husband got involved on my request just to check if I had any colour on my skin anywhere and wipe it off and to help me with the timings as I stayed put in the bathroom as did not want to drip any colour anywhere. That is still a ritual I do 4 boxes in but now sometimes I take my phone in to time.I find because it is a foam you don't get any dripping but I still prefer to stay put in the bathroom with a towel around me just in case. With the old style dyes I found I needed a towel, apron etc...to cover me and they all got covered! With this foam one towel is just needed as a precaution.I am now more confident using the foam and I find I don't need my Husband now to check if there have been any disasters so will continue with this method of home hair dying.

There are quite afew brands now doing the foam dye,I have tried three,John Frieda,Schwarzkopf XXL and Superdrug's own brand one.I must say I liked the Superdrug the least of the three as I found it irritated my head slightly during development and the results of the colour were not that noticeable, particularly on the roots. My favourite is the Schwarzkopf XXL one in Deep Cherry Bliss. The colour to me is divine, noticeable and looks different in certain lights and always gets me compliments.I would say however it does take longer to wash the foam out than the others but it's worth the effort. Also just as a side note,I find all the brands and this is probably the case with most dyes it does get subtler on the second wash and so on.
