Yes I said Red,the hair colour choice that apparently has had a real upsurge in sales lately.I have been jumping on the band wagon too (I might add I chose it before I heard the popularity statistic) But not just with any old hair dye......with the marvel that is foam dye!
I had never dyed my hair fully until recently except back in the day with colour mousse that hardly did a thing! The first dye I tried was a Schwarzkopf traditional semi-permanent liquid type one,and it was a mess.I had to get my Husband involved which was an horrific experience for him.He wanted no part in the matter really because he didn't want to be responsible if it didn't work out as he knows how precious us women are over our hair ! I have very thick hair so it was a mammoth task in itself,it was dripping all down my neck which resulted in me shouting and making my poor Husband get into more of a flap ! All in all not a very good experience that was and is never to be repeated. I then saw a couple of adverts advertising this mess free, great coverage foam dye so was tempted to go and have a look. When I did though,it all seemed to be a permanent colour which filled me with dread. What if it went wrong,I wouldn't be able to get it out etc.....were thoughts I had,but in the end i thought oh well I can get one close to my natural colour and dye it back.In the end I was browsing in Boots and saw the John Frieda ones were on offer at £6.66 so I thought I would get one of those, the name of the colour now escapes me but I remember it had a combination of Red and medium in it! Everything about it looked very professional and stylish which made me feel better about it,even down to you getting Black disposable gloves you received.I decided to do the colouring that weekend and all in all it was a pretty straight forward task.My Husband got involved on my request just to check if I had any colour on my skin anywhere and wipe it off and to help me with the timings as I stayed put in the bathroom as did not want to drip any colour anywhere. That is still a ritual I do 4 boxes in but now sometimes I take my phone in to time.I find because it is a foam you don't get any dripping but I still prefer to stay put in the bathroom with a towel around me just in case. With the old style dyes I found I needed a towel, apron etc...to cover me and they all got covered! With this foam one towel is just needed as a precaution.I am now more confident using the foam and I find I don't need my Husband now to check if there have been any disasters so will continue with this method of home hair dying.
There are quite afew brands now doing the foam dye,I have tried three,John Frieda,Schwarzkopf XXL and Superdrug's own brand one.I must say I liked the Superdrug the least of the three as I found it irritated my head slightly during development and the results of the colour were not that noticeable, particularly on the roots. My favourite is the Schwarzkopf XXL one in Deep Cherry Bliss. The colour to me is divine, noticeable and looks different in certain lights and always gets me compliments.I would say however it does take longer to wash the foam out than the others but it's worth the effort. Also just as a side note,I find all the brands and this is probably the case with most dyes it does get subtler on the second wash and so on.

I'm Going Back.......to Titanic !
Yes....... we went back, yesterday in fact! Back to the magic and oure youth to what is the cinematic experience of Titanic.I say youth, but back in 1997 I was 16 and I remember really enjoying the film, the most I think I ever had out of all the films I had seen on the big screen and up there with the best I had seen on the box or VHS.(No DVD's back then) I enjoyed it so much so that I returned for a 2nd viewing. That year I don't think anyone had not seen the film or received the VHS for Christmas.Fast forward 15 years and this time around the difference being is that now with modern day technology 3D has been added.
Does 3D add anything to the viewing experience? That was a question I asked myself when I was thinking of parting with money for the tickets."We have seen it lots of times though" "We can just watch it at home" "Why pay over £20" "I have read reviews and the 3D is more or less non existent " were quotes my Husband heard a lot of in the last couple of days.We are not cinema goers and have not been for a couple of years in fact but it was my Husbands Birthday yesterday so we wanted to do something different after our'e meal so decided this what it.As we were dining in the Town Centre we went to the Showcase/Cinema Deluxe which in itself was a new experience. The ticket price was £10.80 each ,£9.80 for the film plus £1 for the glasses (Which you do get to take home) We took our'e seats, which were quite ample with good leg room and sat waiting for the film not expecting alot of added oomph to be honest.A trailer for a 3D film appeared,it looked excellent but it did make me flinch somewhat ! We had never seen a 3D movie at the cinema before, only little ones such as at M&M's world in Vegas so did not have a big opinion on what they should deliver.
Did it actually deliver? I can absolutely say hand on heart I enjoyed every second. The 3D maybe could have been a little more in places but one main point is 3D films that are made now are made with 3D in mind so are adapted so.Titanic was obviously not so there is only so much that be done, hence the more subtle effect.Subtle though worked well for me,that flinching I mentioned earlier would be o.k for a couple of minutes not a whole film with things leaping out at me ! This was a nice comfortable watch. The familiarity was there of the story but I was still enthralled and never thought to myself that I know what's was coming next.A few moments stood out in 3D,the main part I think was the "I'm flying Jack" scene.Everything about that felt as if you were there nearly.Other good parts were where Jack was looking up at the stars before he met Rose and also the scene where the ship was finally submerged and Jack and Rose were swimming to the surface.
All in all it was a brilliant evening and I love the fact that I watched the release the first time and now 15 years on,on the 100 year anniversary of the ill fated voyage I have repeated the experience.I did however feel a pang of older age creeping up on me.The majority of the audience were young adults who were watching it on the big screen for the first time and to be there again and older than some of them when I first saw it 15 years ago felt a little strange !
